Sweet Harriet

April 2024

Sweet Harriet

Sweet Harriet is a native New Hampshire based singer songwriter. Her 'ah-ha' moment in music came years after losing her health and career (in active duty military health care). She began singing to improve lung volume and have more fun. Her music and lyrics are multi - genre; Acoustic folk, Americana, country, classic rock, and blue-grass. Her performances are interactive and lively.

She took a few banjo lessons in the 1980's because it was fun. Fast forward 2006, wanting fun and to improve health, went for a banjo lesson and got voice coaching instead. She went to sell the banjo, instead bought a guitar (a three quarter Baby Taylor), learned a couple basic chords, showed up to local jam sessions at a candy store, quickly bonding with other musicians, got invited to join a few bands, started getting paid gigs (hey, a dollar and a few coins is ...fun) performing live local festivals, farmers markets, fundraisers, campgrounds, nursing homes, churches, funerals and weddings, and years of monthly Sunday Morning Firefighter Relief Association Firehouse Breakfasts.

Then, off to the studio! She's having fun and eager for more with over 55 song releases! Her her second album, Thanks For Stopping By, got a contract with The Discovery Channel via Broadjam. This album is playful and uses vintage instrumentation and is based on her family, friends and life experiences.

Becoming a snow-bird fueled the lyrics of both her latest releases, Homebody, Cayo Hueso Christmas Archipelago and Walkin' Pickin' Ploggers.

Cayo Hueso Christmas Archipelago, a TropRock, released October 11, 2019. It's a song about spending Christmas in Key West and meeting

amazing people at the Old Stone Coffee House. Then, there's friendly folks of The Conch Nation and Sigsbee Shufflers who exercise and pick up trash. This is a worldwide movement and it's called Plogging!
Hence, my country two-step song Walkin' Pickin' Ploggers to be released November 1st, 2019!

Her lyrics are influenced directly from her life experiences, huge family, traveling, career choices, intimate relationship with nature (camping with her husband) and eagerness for 'what's next'?

Juliana MacDowell

March 2024

Juliana MacDowell

Juliana MacDowell  is a sonically sensational and sensitive singer-songwriter who unflaggingly delivers spirited performances at every show.

She splits her time between the hills and hollers of Loudoun County, VA and the riotous rock that is Key West. When not performing with illustrious D.C. guitarist, Mike Ault, or her band, The Agreeables, Juliana works on songwriting and recording. With three albums in the rear-view mirror, including her 2023 release of “Big Old Yellow Moon,” produced by Nashville legend, Bil Vorndick, Juliana is recording her next album with British Indie producer, Ian Shaw, slated for release 2024.

Juliana's music career is as much a surprise to her as any one. It's true that I just sort of fell into this business, but I'm pretty sure I was whistling in the womb, and I've been singing for as long as I can remember.

A tumultuous childhood, marred by loss and periodic separation from her parents prompted Juliana to seek consolation in music. Music evokes the happiest memories of life on my grandfather's farm, where I sang to the swallows in a cavernous barn and whistled to winged warblers in the forest. Piano became a close companion to Juliana at a young age after her great-grandfather placed her on the bench of his 1939 Steinway.

JIMMY BUFFETT (1946 -2023)

November 2023

Jimmy Buffett

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett (1946-2023) regaled audiences for over five decades with songs about the faces and places he'd seen during his lifetime journey along the road less travelled. With Hemingway's eye for detail and Mark Twain's inclination for mischievous humor, Buffett's music tells the stories of the hustlers, the beach bums and the pirates from all corners of the world. Through it all are woven the themes of escapism, wanderlust and an unbridled curiosity that makes life a journey worth taking.

Buffett was born on Christmas day 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in the port town of Mobile, Alabama. His grandfather, James Delaney Buffett, was a captain on a steamship and his father J.D. traveled to India and Africa with the Army Corps of Engineers before settling in Mobile. For young Jimmy, the Gulf of Mexico was the doorway to a world of adventure where the characters he heard about in his grandfather's stories were waiting to be discovered. The siren call of exotic ports was in contrast to his days as a parochial school student and an altar boy, and it only took a guitar to take him off course from the life his parents had imagined for him.

When Jimmy saw how a fraternity brother in college with a guitar garnered the attention of the girls, he quickly learned a few basic chords and started playing himself. Suddenly Jimmy's world opened up - while he still attended classes, he quickly had his first band and went from busking the streets of New Orleans to playing 6 nights a week at Bourbon Street clubs.

After graduation, Jimmy headed to Nashville to work for Billboard Magazine and to try his luck as a folk-country singer, releasing his first record, "Down To Earth" in 1970. However it was a fateful trip to Key West, Florida with Jerry Jeff Walker in 1971 that would give Jimmy the inspiration to merge his musicality, wanderlust and storytelling.

Image of Jimmy Buffett playing guitar and smiling widely while playing to a close-knit group of young people.
Key West in the 1970s was not the tourist-friendly town it is today – it was the last outpost of smugglers, con-men, artists and free-spirits who simply couldn't run any further south in the mainland United States. It was there that the young musician thrown into the midst of this eclectic mix found his true voice as a songwriter - telling the stories of the wanderers, the adventurers and the forlorn.

In 1974, his song "Come Monday" from the fourth studio album "Living and Dying in ¾ Time" entered the Billboard charts, eventually peaking at number 30. That year found Jimmy touring solo-acoustic and performing at well-known folk venues across the country, from the Troubadour in Los Angeles to Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He hasn't stopped touring since.

And then in 1977 came "Margaritaville." A laid-back anthem about escapism and life in the tropics, the song spent 22 weeks on the Billboard chart, peaking at number 8. It catapulted Jimmy to national fame and, nearly a decade later, inspired Jimmy to launch a business empire.

After 27 studio albums, New York Times bestselling books, a Broadway play, numerous movie and television appearances, Grammy nominations and Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association awards, it was still the music that inspired Jimmy. He was just as likely to pop up and play an impromptu set alone at a Caribbean beach bar as he was to be on stage in front of 30,000 loyal ‘Parrothead' fans. And after logging millions of miles on the road, on the ocean and in the air, distant ports still beckoned and the same unbridled curiosity drove him to keep looking for that next story to share via song.

Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs after a four year battle with Merkel Cell Skin Cancer. He was 76.

He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.

TIFFANI GREEN

August 2023

Tiffani Green

Tiffani Green has been a musician as long as she can remember. From the age of 2, singing her 1st solo in church, to becoming a middle school band director, it is her life's work - well, it's simply, her life. She took up the ukulele about 12 years ago, and the rest is history. Tiffani is originally from West Virginia, but also resides, part time in Key West - and this is where the singer-songwriter was really born. Those evenings on the porch, and the bars, made for good lyric content, and later, songs. Her mingling of the struggle of mountain living and the beach vibe has given a cool, sometimes gritty style to her music.

As a newcomer to the Trop Rock scene, she is still an up-and-coming musician, searching for that 1st nomination, or a spot on a chart, but that isn't stopping her!

She is regularly featured on Tiki Man Radio, and previously 104.9 the X. She has been invited, and played the Key West Musicians Festival, and her first song, "Butterflies", was included in the yearly recording. (available on Amazon). When home, in Key West, she can be heard playing at several establishments, and on TikiMan Radio's show "Coastal Confessions'', with B-Man and Mi-Shell. She also performs live with many local musicians, including Dani Hoy, who just recorded one of Tiffani's original songs, "Island Storm".

At 49, Tiffani decided to make music her main focus, and is in the middle of recording a full-length album, to be released by fall. Be on the lookout for singles "dropping" soon! It's never too late to follow your dream, right?

KIRSTIE KRAUS

DECEMBER 2022

Kirstie Kraus

She’s thirsty for love and magic, for joy and
sunshine. She’s thirsty for compassion and
authenticity. And more than anything, she’s
thirsty for anything that sets her soul on fire.
Kirstie Kraus carries her thirst in her
songwriting, in her live shows, and in her
everyday connection with other kindred spirits.
Nowhere is her appetite more quenched than on
a stage in front of her fans, appropriately
named “Thirsties”. Her confidence naturally
shines under the bright lights, taking concert
goers on a well-defined path of self-discovery
and bliss. Her writing infuses her own
transparent journey with others’ experiences
to create sustainable lyrics and catchy melodies.
The result is a perfect blend of
country, funk, blues, and rock because with
Kirstie, there are no boundaries. There’s only the
process of “letting go” and letting the song tell
you what it wants to be.

It will also tell you WHERE it wants to be and for an intuitive deep thinker like Kirstie, that place is Nashville. Three years ago, the Wisconsin native made the move to Music City and having heavily toured the summer before with her Midwest band, Thirsty Jones, Kirstie made the decision to really focus on honing her craft in town. She immediately began demoing out songs for her upcoming full length record and playing established Nashville venues, like the Listening Room Café and the Bluebird. She also leaned into the production side of her album, gaining great insight from her then producer about arrangements, vocal styling, and mixing. Her first Nashville based single, “Delusional” (2018) fancies a sassy 80s funk groove while 2019’s “Gotta Do” pulls in early 2000s Shania vibes. “Silver”, her July 2020 release, possesses the licks of Joan Jett and attitude of Avril Lavigne, proving that she’s not a one lane roadmap.

In fact, the roadmap has always been paved with perseverance and unwavering support of her close knit family back home. Her strong Catholic upbringing relayed the importance of a greater plan from early on. Growing up in an industrial, blue collar area instilled hard work, community involvement, and social interaction. The popular powerhouse vocals of Mariah, Celine, Gloria Estefan, and Amy Grant nudged the precocious six year old to declare that she too wanted to be a singer, in the form of a homework drawing. Her mother then enrolled her ambitious daughter into every opportunity and outlet she could find. By 12, she was writing songs and by the age of 15, she had picked up a guitar and joined NSAI, which meant frequent trips to Nashville for the next several years to be mentored by the best in the business. Kirstie did what most successful artists of longevity will tell you to do: she built her fan base and relationships back home AND in Nashville before making the big leap.

And now, here she is, proving to the world that if you truly set your mind to something, “Yes You Can” do it! Taken from the bridge of her song, “Gotta Do”, the words “Yes You Can” will also serve as the title to her debut album. And in prelude to the highly anticipated 11 song record, the world gets to learn just how “thirsty” Kirstie is with her new song of the same name. Written solely for her by a close friend, “Thirsty” serves as the “ultimate biography of what goes on inside of me when I’m in a relationship—the fear of allowing yourself to actually fall in love and trust somebody.”

Bill Crowley &
Alan Jax Bowers

Bill Crowley
I grew up in Ohio, and though there are a lot of good things about Ohio, the Winter weather isn't one of them. When I reached adulthood, it was time to head for a warmer clime. Spent many wonderful years in Dallas, and was fortunate to meet and play music with some great people. Guys who are still some of my best buds. Living in Atlanta for several years got me closer to the tropics, and the pull south was too strong to resist. I now live in Ft Lauderdale and I am happy to admit I am a Florida junkie. You find me an old beach dive bar and I'm in!

Fortunately my parents agreed to buy me a guitar when I was just a youth, and I haven't put it down since. I was weened on the Beatles, but I have been influenced by all types of music and artists, too many to mention here. It all swirls around like a pot of Sauce Boss gumbo. Several years ago I got hooked on TropRock music, which was a no-brainer, given that we live, work, and play in the tropics of south Florida!

A few years ago I began to record the original songs that I have written over the years, beginning with "It's Called Key West". As I record them I am adding them to this website. There will always be more coming! In my live shows I include a wide variety of fun and popular tunes from the 1950's to the present. Hope to see you at our next show!

Robin Tricker

March 2022

Robin Tricker

Robin Tricker is a passionate songwriter, ukulele lover, and musical chameleon. More than just your typical hip, east coast girl. Robin is a multi-layered songwriter intent on driving a catchy hook into your head. Don’t let the curly hair and ukulele fool you, this Jersey girl can sing. If Rock, Country & Pop had a curly haired baby it would be Robin Tricker. Her more personal songs pack a strong punch, and as one of her songs says, she is “one part sugar & one part cayenne!” If Robin was a musical drink she would be somewhere between a Pina Colada, and a shot of Jack!

Once a professional dancer, Robin has featured in national TV commercials, and was also a featured dancer on a late night TV dance show presented by Sofia Vergara.

Now a thriving singer songwriter, Robin's passion for the ukulele on which she writes, and performs most of her songs is clear for all to see. Of course beach songs sit perfectly on the ukulele, but she also wrote the haunting ‘The Love Letter’ on this beautifully diverse instrument. The Love Letter, with lyrics written by the late Blaze Starr who starred alongside Paul Newman in the major motion picture ‘Blaze’ was artfully crafted by Robin onto a ukulele written melody that evokes Blaze’s deep country roots.

Robin has for the forth time been nominated for ‘Best Female Vocalist of the Year’, and 2020 was the first year she was nominated for the 'Horizon Award' at the annual TRMA’s. She is also on the ‘Ones to Watch’ list for the Nashville Songwriters Association International.

Her live shows are infectious and entertaining, with songs about everything from beaches to love triangles. Robin finds song ideas within her ordinary life, and sends them off into the world to be listened to.

Her 12 track album ‘Salt Water Happy’ produced at Sonic Boom Studios by the uber talented Anthony Krizan formerly of The Spin Doctors is out now! It contains 3 number one TropRock 40 songs. Robin's songs are getting Radio Airplay all around the world, and making people dance in their bathing suits!

Bryton Stoll

February 2022

Bryton Stoll
The Land Locked Sailor

Some of my favorite memories are of sitting around a campfire on a beach in Kansas while my dad played the guitar and sang. The moonlight, the stars, and the fire all danced together on the water, while the rest of us danced on the sand.

There was some country, a little classic rock, and a whole lot of Jimmy Buffett. Years later, when I picked up my own guitar, I could feel all those influences come through me in the music I played and the stories I told.

Whether it’s a song about life, love, or the lack of, I want to take listeners to their own place where worries fade and solutions become more clear. I may not be able to make problems disappear, but as the Landlocked Sailor I do know how to find a beach, even in the middle of Kansas!

Jimmy Parrish

January 2022

Jimmy Parrish

A native Floridian and long-time Jacksonville resident, Jimmy’s been performing both as a solo act and with his band for nearly thirty years. After forming the Ocean Waves Band in 2000, his goal was to entertain audiences throughout the southeast with an island style tropical vibe.

Armed with a combination of acoustic rock heavily influenced by the music of Jimmy Buffett, along with his love for the ocean and time spent in the islands, Jimmy helped pave the way for what would be an up-and-coming musical genre now known as ‘Trop Rock’.

In 2008, Kenny Chesney’s management group hosted a nationwide contest to find the Next Big Star, which Jimmy and his band won in the northeast Florida region. As a result, they were awarded the opportunity to open for Chesney at the Jacksonville Memorial Arena later that year. It was quite a thrill indeed, Jimmy boasts. “We got to play rock stars for a night in front of nearly 15,000 people!”

Beach Buddah Coffee - Trop Rock Artist Of The Month Isabella Stefania

February / March 2021

Isabella Stefania

In the life of country singer/songwriter, Isabella Stefania there is never a dull moment and that’s just the way she likes it. Though she’s grown up on the outskirts of the “Windy City”, Chicago, Illinois, Isabella is a country girl at heart. She’s got a taste for adventure that draws her to the great outdoors but, whether she’s riding ATV’s with family and friends, scuba diving the beautiful green waters of the Caribbean or watching a beautiful sunset the one constant is her music.

Her sound, an original blend she’s dubbed "Island-Country", not only conveys her music style but exemplifies the natural beauty and easy going spirit that is Isabella. Though she’s just getting started, her rapidly growing fan base indicates great promise for the future. Her original song, co-written and produce by Doug Kahan, “Love’s Not Like That” is receiving great reviews and leaving her fans begging for more.

Isabella’s love for performance began as a toddler. As a dancer, she felt at home on stage and also experienced the joy and excitement of pleasing her audience. Isabella worked diligently and became very accomplished as a dancer and later as a volleyball player. Sadly, an injury all but ended her days of dancing and volleyball but, her love of music was there to fill the void.

Isabella focused her attention on learning guitar, writing and improving her vocals. Her hard work paid off when a family friend referred her to Bernard Porter, Founder and President of PCG Universal in Nashville, Tennessee. Porter invited her to attend PCG’s annual summer bootcamp so she and her biggest fans, her parents, made the trip to Nashville. Porter witnessed Isabella’s talent firsthand and was eager to begin molding this incredible piece of clay. Isabella was invited to attend the elite development program at PCG as an emerging artist and so began the process of uncovering her underlying potential.
“She’s exactly what we look for in an artist, the whole package, truly talented. Her sound is really refreshing and new. She’s got a great voice, strong writing potential, a hard worker and she’s beautiful inside and out. Isabella is a pleasure to work with and I know she’s got what it takes to achieve great success in this industry,” comments Porter.
Isabella began working with Porter and his team of coaches and providers in 2016 and her progress has been remarkable. Having earned the privilege, she recorded her first single, as well as, her first music video, directed by award-winning film directors, Michael Stryker and Josh Stever for “Love’s Not Like That” and continues to develop her skills as a singer/songwriter with monthly trips to Nashville and performing every chance she gets.

No one knows what the future holds but, one thing is certain, Isabella’s love and skill for making music will continue growing With that, her desire for more adventures and the ability to help make the world a better place will be fulfilled. As she likes to say, “Life is not meant to be lived in one spot. Ships in the harbor are safe but, that isn’t what ships are made for.”
With her undeniable talent, strong work ethic, natural beauty, unwavering passion and a fresh, new sound all her own, Isabella Stefania is sailing for uncharted territory…wind in her hair, sun on her face, songs dancing in her head like stars on the water.

Isabella would like her music to influence all ages whether it's a feel-good sing-along tune or one that speaks to the heart of her beliefs. Her devotion is to being authentic and true to herself and being a positive role model for young women.

Whether she's deep beneath the waters of the Caribbean or riding cross-country on a Harley one thing is for certain, there’ll be a song taking shape in her head and we’ll soon be singing along to another easy-going country classic.

Beach Buddah Coffee - Trop Rock Artist Of The Month Beth Travers

January 2021

Beth Travers

Beth Travers—born to adventurers and sailors—was sailing Nantucket Sound before she could run. As a wandering musician Beth is still a lover of Mother Ocean and combines the grooves of calypso and rock with the fun of Trop Rock and country into her own Beach-Flavored style of Coastal Americana.
With her CDs reflecting surf music, western swing, Trop Rock & country, her grooves are driven by thumping bass & move from shredding electric guitar to calypso, steel pans and steel guitars, all ringing out themes of escape to the Caribbean and of Happiness found in the Waves of your favorite coastline.
An active Parrot Head herself, Beth is seen playing beach bars and tiki bars and any place where people congregate to listen and party-down while she plays her own originals with a girl-Buffett kind of style & attitude… warming her fans & phriends in ANY latitude from New York to Minnesota; Arizona to Switzerland… and Nashville, Tennessee, but always landing in Florida to soak up enough sunshine to fuel the next ride!
As a musician Beth has played with many artists, and will be glad to pop-a-top on a dark brew—beer or coffee—and sit with you and drop names of Nashville greats she has known and played with; as a vocalist Beth has led bands & has sung on literally tons of recordings including legends like George Jones and Ray Stevens.
But… as a soloist, Beth has finally found her true voice—She’s having the time of her life delivering Trop Rock songs and Parrot Head phun to her new family and tribe. Her sultry voice and quirky sense of humor combined with her strong songwriting skills, are wowing audiences with a unique entertainment experience.
With her second CD project “Happiness Comes In Waves” flying high, Beth is booking a 2021 tour doing house concerts, playing Parrot Head events, Buffett sing-alongs on street corners in foreign lands, and playing at “anything Tiki”. Come see her and she’ll have you hollering “Beach Blanket Betty” & “La, La, La-ing” in perfect harmony about how much YOU need the Sunshine! Beach Buddah Coffee - Trop Rock Artist Of The Month Johnny Russler

December 2020

Johnny Russler

Johnny Russler & the Beach Bum Band combine the sounds of Trop Rock, Reggae, Surf, and Calypso by pouring great original music along with songs by Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Zac Brown Band, Paul Simon, Sublime, Beach Boys, and many more into a musical blender to create a strong concoction direct from the lower latitudes!

From steel pans to strong percussion, to driving bass and skanking guitars, the Beach Bum Band has a fun and danceable sound that appeals to all ages.

Johnny Russler & The Beach Bum Band has been throwing beach parties to enthusiastic crowds to venues from Nebraska to Rhode Island, from Minnesota to Key West, from community festivals to college campuses to Parrothead gatherings at Alpine Valley, Tweeter Center, and Target Center as the pre-show entertainment for Jimmy Buffett concerts, and even on stage several times with Buffett as his backup band.

The Beach Bum Band has been performing with Jimmy Buffett for his charity appearances in the Eastern U.S. as part of his Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant openings since 2003. The Beach Bums have performed favorites such as "Margaritaville", "Five O?Clock Somewhere", "Fins", and "Volcano" on stage with Buffett himself. The Beach Bum Band has also headlined for other Cheeseburger in Paradise openings without Buffett, and so far The Beach Bum Band, Buffett and Cheeseburger in Paradise have collectively raised over $400,000 for charity at these events.

The Beach Bum Band has provided the pre-show entertainment for the Buffett tour from 2002 through 2006 at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, Tweeter Center in Illinois, Target Center in Minneapolis and Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Beach Bums have also been invited for repeat appearances at Margaritaville in Key West.

The Beach Bum Band appeals to Parrotheads everywhere! The warm weather and island themes parallel much of the ambience that "Parrotheads" enjoy, but The Beach Bum Band is NOT a "Jimmy Buffett tribute band". The song list will certainly include plenty of Buffett favorites as well as music from Bob Marley, Zac Brown Band, Sublime, Paul Simon, Dick Dale, Jerry Jeff Walker and many others including some of The Beach Bums originals, offering variety and entertainment for everyone who enjoys warm weather.

Beach Buddah Coffee - Trop Rock Artist Of The Month Raven Cooper

NOVEMBER 2020

Raven Cooper

Raven was born in Hot Springs National Park Arkansas raised by her Grandmother Maria Gloria Luna Cooper. Raven was a State Champion swimmer from the ages 9-14. Some people say she could swim before she could even walk.

Her Grandmother and her Uncles Edmond & Thomas introduced her to the theater, ballet and rock and roll music in the late 80's.
They bought  Raven her first guitar and she played that guitar everyday until it fell apart.

Raven left home as soon as she could and headed straight to Memphis and started playing out on Beale Street eventually making her way to the Keys in early 2000 where she is now a regular at Schooner Wharf and she is very grateful to the owners and everyone that has been so supportive during these crazy times.

Raven Cooper is a favorite local musician – a talented guitar player and singer with a wide range of vocal styles. Raven's diverse singing ability rivals an earthy Janis Joplin, orchestral Julie Andrews and bluesy Billy Holiday. Playing an eclectic mix of jazz, country, blues, and more, Raven has something for everyone in the place. Her interaction with the audience is always a spontaneous experience and amusing fun!

In an article by “The Florida Weekly” they stated, “Their chemistry on and off stage looks perfectly natural, just like a proper rock n’ roll couple should, like Sonny and Cher or Johnny and June Cash.

B-Man & mi-Shell’s music is influenced by many past and present artists that include Jimmy Buffett, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, John Prine, Steve Earle, Kenny Chesney just to name a few. They play a wide assortment of music to include Rock, Country Rock, Beach Country, Country, Blues, Jazz and Americana. They have had many refer to their music as a “Nautical Americana” style sound.

B-Man & mi-Shell enjoy living in their new home in Key West. Such a wonderful community of people… the “One Human Family” as many refers to it…and in their view the “Gateway to the Caribbean”!

B-Man & mi-Shell are available for barbeques, house parties, club activity parties or special events. They do love to travel and entertain throughout the Florida Keys, upper Florida, as well as Nationwide. They would love to come and be a part of your fun and hope to see you at one of their next gig. Drop an email and let them know if you have an event you would like B-Man & mi-Shell to be a part of your entertainment.

Beach Buddah Coffee - Trop Rock Artist Of The Month Donny Brewer

August 2020

Donny Brewer

Donny Brewer is a Central Texas born and bred multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years experience entertaining crowds in all genres in all parts of the world. Though he has been writing and recording Trop Rock all his life, he was not discovered until 2012 after releasing his first of four beach and escapism themed albums, Live Like Jimmy Buffett.

He’s since won 22 Trop Rock Music Association and People’s Choice awards for his music including Entertainer Of The Year 3 years running.

He’s now on tour full time living in a Winnebago with his wife Michelle playing everything from solo house concerts to large festival shows with his 7 piece band the Dock Rockers, combining Trop Rock with all his earlier blues, rock, country and R&B influences.

Donny continues to write and record new material while on the road and now hosts events, trips and festivals, including the annual Karavan to Keys and Mexico Meltdown among others. Not to mention the cruises and trips he joins other Trop Rockers on.

Now working on his 5th and 6th albums, he says this was the one thing he discovered:

“This is who I’ve been all along. Writing and recording island, trop rock, or whatever you wanna call it is natural for me. It’s easy. With other music, I always feelt like I could’ve written it better, or done a better production or sang it better. I was never quite happy with it, ya know. With this music it’s like gravy. I hardly ever do a second vocal take. And it’s like there’s no rules. If I wanna throw in a goofy percussion part or change styles I can do that. It’s my music. It makes me happy. It makes me feel good. And hopefully it’ll do that for other folks too. That would just be the icing on the cake…or the…lime on the margarita, or something!”

With the kids both college graduates, there’s no limit to where Donny will take his Trop Rock, literally and figuratively, but one thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be fun!

Beach Buddah Coffee - Trop Rock Artist Of The Month Boomer Blake

June & July 2020

Boomer Blake

Boomer Blake is a Singer/ Songwriter whose lyrics & stories fall into the Tropical Rock genre, but a childhood of influences the likes of Billy Joel, James Taylor, Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, and the Doobie Brothers means his musical arrangements can span a wide range of rhythms and styles!

Boomer was raised in Northern New Jersey not far from the hometowns of some of the greats like Sinatra, Frankie Valli, Bon Jovi, even Eddie Rabbit! Growing up, he took every chance to sing or perform that came his way. He studied music from public school through college, and performed in community theater, National choirs, theme parks and cruise ships.

Boomer began building a Songwriting catalogue in college, but only made it a serious focus these last 10 years. His first single “Smooth Whiskey Weekend” was first played by Trop Rock DJ, Lyle Wilson on Radio A1A back in the Spring of 2016, and immediately hit the Weekly Trop 40 at #15! It topped out at #3 and stayed on the charts for 4 months till his next 2 singles “Livin’ Loose in My Barefoot Shoes” and “Escape for a Smile” took its place later that summer.

Since then, all of Boomers songs have had places on the Weekly Trop 40, the Shore Life Radio Top 20 Most Requested, and can be heard on multiple Trop Rock oriented Radio Stations.

Boomer can be found gigging solo along the Jersey Shore, nationally with fellow Singer/ Songwriter Danny Rosado, as a call-in guest from time to time on Tiki Man Radio, or just Livin’ Loose in his barefoot shoes with a rum drink in hand chillaxing at his favorite tiki bar!
